Substance Group

If you are using drugs or alcohol and comfortable with your habit, you probably won't need to check out this group. But you might want to, anyway, if you're curious. Usually people know when their usage nears a point of danger to their self or others. If you are using and not always happy about your habit, you might want to come to our group and talk about it. Or talk about anything related. Mostly, with Harm Reduction, we are interested in you being healthy and moving towards a place of happiness and fulfillment in your life. Harm Reduction is a philosophy that accepts each of us as whole people who have habits that may or may not be legal, and may or may not be dangerous. Many habits of many many people in this society fit those criteria. We destigmatize and strive to find acceptance, so that we can move forward to a better place in this life. So we can get done some of the other things we might want to be doing.

We are open to all, and base ourselves on the principles and practice of social inclusiveness. We are self organizing and aim to help each other without adherence to any particular religious, medical or governmental institutions or methodologies. The only two things we ask of participants is confidentiality outside the meeting and sensitivity and respect in our language towards others.

We will be meeting 1st & 3rd Mondays at 7pm, beginning Monday, Feb. 6th, at the A-Space, 4722 Baltimore Ave in West Philly
