*The History of Political Repression in the U.S. and What It Means For Our Movements Today*

*Saturday, Feb 11, 7:00pm, @ A-Space Community Center (4722 Baltimore Ave.) *

Dissident speech and radical social movements in the U.S. have consistently been met with state repression, ranging from deportations and malicious prosecution of activists to infiltration and surveillance of organizations and police violence against organizers. This interactive workshop will trace that history, examining the tactics of repression and how movements have responded, with an emphasis on how our movements today defend themselves against the tactics of repression. Presenter James Clark is a radical activist and law student in Philadelphia; he has studied the history social movements in the US and has extensive experience organizing support for activists facing repression.
